On the convergence (upper boundness) of trigonometric series

In this paper we prove that the condition 2n ∑ k=[ 2 ] kλk |n− k|+ 1 = o(1) (= O(1)) , for r = 0, 1, 2, . . . , is necessary for the convergence of the r − th derivative of the Fourier series in the L−metric. This condition is sufficient under some additional assumptions for Fourier coefficients. In fact, in this paper we generalize some results of A. S. Belov [1]. AMS subject classifications: ...

A NOTE ON THE SPACES Lp FOR 0 < p < 1

It is shown that there is no Hausdorff vector topology p on the space Lp (where 0 < p < 1) such that the unit ball of Lp is relatively compact for the topology p. It is well known that the space L1 (0, 1) is not a dual Banach space; this follows from the Krein-Milman theorem. It is not even isomorphic to a dual space, by a result due to Gelfand [2] (see Bessaga and Pelczyn'ski [1] and Namioka [...

Pointwise Convergence of Trigonometric Series

We establish two results in the pointwise convergence problem of a trigonometric series [An] £ cne inl with lim Hm £ I bTck | = 0 |n|< -x. * Jn-»oo \k\-n for some nonnegative integer m. These results not only generalize Hardy's theorem, the Jordan test theorem and Fatou's theorem, but also complement the results on pointwise convergence of those Fourier series associated with known 1}-convergen...

A New Condition for the Uniform Convergence of certain Trigonometric Series

The present paper proposes a new condition to replace both the (O-regularly varying) quasimonotone condition and a certain type of bounded variation condition, and shows the same conclusion for the uniform convergence of certain trigonometric series still holds.

Trigonometric series with a generalized monotonicity condition

Abstract In this paper, we consider numerical and trigonometric series with a very general monotonicity condition. First, a fundamental decomposition is established from which the sufficient parts of many classical results in Fourier analysis can be derived in this general setting. In the second part of the paper a necessary and sufficient condition for the uniform convergence of sine series is...
